As a marine huge step …. The company operates High-speed Internet on all carriers

In the context of interest in the development and modernization of the company's fleet, the installation and operation of high-speed Internet service on all fleet tankers was completed, that includes crude oil tankers and liquefied gas tankers and carriers of refined oil. 

The company has signed a contract with the international company "Marlink" that is specialized in this field, in order to equip the fleet with high-speed Internet, known as "VSAT."

Regarding the benefits of installing and operating of the system on the tankers, Mr. Bader Al-Otaibi, Fleet Engineering Group Director, said that it will improve operations of the fleet and will contribute significantly to the reduction of operating expenses for communications and keep up with all the modern applications that contribute to the fleet operation according to the best levels and in accordance with the highest international standards of operating .

Mr. Bader Al-Otaibi also pointed out that the installation and operation of high-speed Internet service "VSAT" will improve the operating efficiency of the carriers and enhance the level of security and safety of the fleet in addition to enhancing the welfare of the fleet's crew members who sail onboard the tankers for weeks. He also explained that the installation and operation of this system is an achievement in the maritime field.

Mr. Bader Al-Otaibi stressed the keenness of the company to continue to raise the level of its services to meet international standards depending on Kuwaiti hands. He also pointed out that currently they have national experts who possess the experience and ambition to continue the process of developing the operating to be up to the reputation of Kuwait that have been achieved over the past few years on the international in the maritime field.

Mr. Bader Al-Otaibi said that Kuwaiti experts achievements in KOTC was not a coincidence, but an inevitable result of the great efforts that have been made in the field of preparation, training and development of personnel at the highest level, which the company is currently benefiting from, and working on the development and continuity of it.

The Kuwait Oil Tanker Company has one of the most modern fleets of oil and gas transportation in the world and the number of tankers it owns is 30. They are 12 gigantic crude oil tankers, 14 petroleum products tankers of various sizes, and 4 gigantic gas tankers, and the total tonnage capacity of the fleet is 5.040 million metric tons, which is the equivalent of 36.394 million barrels of oil. The average age of the fleet is about 7 years.

The company specializes mainly in owning and managing the fleet that is dedicated to transferring KPC's exports of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied gas. The company's tankers have sailed during the fiscal year 2014/2015 for more than 8.1 million nautical miles with high efficiency without any navigational accidents or marine pollution incidents. This nominated it for many international awards including the security and safety award by Lloyd's List Global as the best carrier in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent for the year 2014.
