Tanker Shipping and Trade magazine has selected the Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) - Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, as one of the world's 50 influential leading figures in the field of maritime transport for the year 2015, for the second year in row.

The latest issue of the magazine indicated that the KOTC continued its successful achievements in the field of maritime transport, i.e., had renovated its fleet. The magazine added that KOTC had received 9 new top-notch tankers able to transport all types of oil products and the Kuwait’s crude oil and oil products. The new tankers included 4 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) with 320,000 MT capacity each; 4 Medium Range Product Carriers (MR) with 50,000 MT capacity each, for transporting oil products and petrochemicals; and 1 Long Range 2 Product Carrier (LR2) with up to 110,000 MT capacity. Further, such tankers had transported around 25 million metric tons of crude oil, oil products and liquefied petroleum gas to destinations around the world.

According to the magazine, the new fleet of tankers marks the haighet international spaecifications in the are of maritime inductry and environment protection. A testament of that is the Dasma LR2 tanker that had been built by the South Korea based Daewoo Shipping & Marine Engineering, which is ClassNK rated. Dasma is an enviroment frindly tanker equiped with high tech equipments to perserve the environment and reduce the various emmissions, so as to be in line with the international laws and requirements in that regard.

KOTC is always keen to undertake its responsibility for transporting the Kuwaiti oil and oil products to the international clients of Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC). This can be achieved by means of fulfilling the company’s obligations to keep the Kuwaiti oil and oil products flowing to the world; ensuring that the fleet meets the requirements and laws of international maritime organizations as well as the requirements and conditions of large oil companies; and preserving the environment through the adoption of the highest standards in that regard.
